Laurel School, an all-girls (K-12) independent school in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and the Cleveland-based Elevation Group announced today the music lineup for LaureLive: Music with a Mission 2017 (LL2017). This unique event will return to Laurel’s gorgeous, 140-acre Butler Campus located at 7420 Fairmount Road, spanning Russell and Chester Townships, Ohio.
The 2017 dates for the two-day, all-day and all-ages, family-friendly festival are Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11. Thirty diverse musical acts, led by five headline artists, will kick-off Summer 2017 in Cleveland.

“Laurel School embraces our legacy of empowering girls and of innovation,” notes Headmistress Ann V. Klotz. “Last year, we collaborated with the Elevation Group to produce a mission-driven festival that would build on and grow our longstanding commitment to the arts as well as to hands-on learning and that would share our beautiful Butler Campus with a wider audience. LaureLive 2016 exceeded our expectations in all regards—the talent who raved about the high-caliber production standards, the enthusiasm of the robust audience of all ages, and most importantly, the real-world experience our Laurel girls gained by working on an event of this scope and quality from start to finish. We are thrilled to present LaureLive 2017 at our Butler Campus in June and look forward to the exceptional curricular offerings our girls will once again engage in and to bringing this incredible family-friendly music festival back to Northeast Ohio.”
The Grammy Award-winning, virtuoso guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Gary Clark Jr. will close all activities on Saturday night. The weekend’s final act on the Sunday night will be The Head and The Heart, a band whose “All We Ever Knew,” isthe #1 song on Alternative and Triple A radio across America. Southern California’s Young The Giant will lead a very powerful Sunday lineup and will be joined by Michael Franti and Spearhead, whom will return to LaureLive one year to the day that they delivered the “most-talked about” set of LaureLive 2016. Grammy nominee NEEDTOBREATHE will be a highlight performance on Saturday night.
“I was there last year and it was a very moving experience,” commented Michael Franti. “And this year, I am going to be putting together a special event that is dedicated to bringing people together in this time when we need it more than ever.”
“Cleveland has always been a city that we look forward to coming out to. We can’t think of any better way to kick off Summer 2017 than by playing at LaureLive to our Ohio fans. We hope to see you there!” stated NEEDTOBREATHE’s Bear Rinehart.
“We have assembled an amazing lineup featuring some of North America’s greatest festival acts,” stated LaureLive’s executive producer Denny Young. “We could not be more excited about the elite artists and performers whom we will be presenting at LL2017 and feel strongly that we have built appropriately upon what we started last summer.”
Once again, LaureLive will be very family friendly, featuring loads of kid activities, educational opportunities, fitness and lifestyle programs and a very safe environment.
The Laurel School/Elevation Group relationship will once again extend beyond the production of a music festival and into the classroom. As a part of this unique collaboration, Laurel and Elevation have created an experiential learning opportunity for Laurel’s Upper School students. Students had active roles in the production and staging of last summer’s event, and while in the classroom, they learned about all aspects associated with event production, marketing, public relations, sponsorships, talent relations, artist booking, contracts, legal and more.
