“Skywire: Road to the Grand Canyon” aired live on Discovery Channel last night!
The special featured the famous tight-rope walker Nik Wallenda walking 1400 foot-long tight rope suspended 1500 feet above the Grand Canyon
Wallenda made the walk without any kind of safety harness or net!
He claimed that he was more concerned with problems the safety harness could cause than actually falling
The 34-year old husband and father made the walk in under 23 minutes with his family watching.
Wallenda could be heard praying thoughout the walk, asking God to calm the winds and help him balance.
Wallenda earned a Guinness World Record last year when he walked a tightrope across Niagra Falls. Unlike he stunt across The Grand Canyon, Wallenda wore a safety harness when he walked across the falls.
He started tightrope training when he was only 2 years old! Wallenda is a 7th generation highwire walker, preceeded by his famous family “The Flying Wallendas.” The Wallendas are known for their daredevil stunts and famous highwire acts.
