If you caught last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, then you can probably attest to the many fashion faux pas committed throughout the evening. While we may never understand why someone would attempt to rock a skin-tight body suit on the red carpet (we’re talking about you, Ms. Minaj), Rita Ora topped the worst dressed list when she one-upped Nicki by wearing a fully embellished, Elvis-inspired number.

Although major fashion misses were inevitable, so too were the celebrities that got it right. In the end, here are the stars that came out on top along with some look-alike style steals.

Miley Cyrus: Let’s face it, despite what you think of her new ‘do, the soon-to-be Mrs. Liam Hemsworth looked fabulous in a black Emilio Pucci gown. The simple-yet-elegant look featured a plunging neckline and sheer detailing, allowing her pixie-cut turned mohawk to take center stage (which is exactly what she wanted). All opinions aside, confidence sure does look good on Miley, doesn’t it?

Steal her style by showing some skin in this censor dress from Necessary Clothing, or in this knee-length cut out dress from Pink Ice. If you’re trying to keep it classy, give this simple LBD or this beautiful body-con dress a try!

Rihanna and Taylor Swift: Visions in white, it would be impossible to not put these two in the same category. Although it didn’t take long for the pair to deliberately disobey the old “no white after Labor Day” rule, we’re glad that they did! Making the most pronounced fashion statement of the night, the country crooner wore a perfectly tailored white suit while RiRi rocked a chic white gown.

Demi Lavato & Gabby Douglas – These girls sure do know how to shine! On top of pulling out fabulous performances last night, both Demi and Gabby looked gorgeous in ultra-glamorous sequenced mini-dresses. While the former Disney star went for an all-black look, the Olympic gold medal winner looked fierce in a black and gold striped getup.

Pink: She’s been around for a while, and she sure knows how to work the red carpet. On the arm of her handsome hubby, Carey Hart, Pink looked poised and confident in a long-sleeve metallic beaded gown. The Stella McCartney piece was absolutely dazzling, and it hugged our girl in all the right places!

While a fully beaded gown many not work for everyday life, this long-sleeve maxi dress by ASOS will certainly do the trick!

As for the guys, well, that’s easy! Colton Haynes of MTV’s Teen Wolf was on top of our fashion radar as he looked incredibly hot (literally and figuratively) in a sexy suit, jewel-toned button up, and studded shoes. While that other famous boy band stole all of the moonmen, the gentleman of The Wanted stole our hearts as the donned a more clean-cut look featuring many shades of gray.
