Matchbox Twenty front man Rob Thomas called in to chat with Kelly today as the band preps for their newest studio album North to release on September 4th.

Fans of the group may have been surprised with the poppy first single “She’s So Mean”, but Rob says to expect more of that from the full album which he says has “a lot of different flavors”.

We can also expect that teaming back up with Matchbox Twenty will not signify the end of Rob’s solo career – although he has no plans of when, he does plan to continue to work on his material independent of his band mates.

Rob has been with his real life mate, wife Marisol Maldonado, since 1999 – and how have the hollywood couple been able to keep it together all these years? According to Rob – not reading ’50 Shades of Grey’ which he refers to as “Connecticut porn”. Instead he and the miss’s “just like regular porn.”
