Female rapper and pop star, Nicki Minaj, with opener, 2 Chainz, rocked the State Theater at PlayhouseSquare last night. The Pink Friday tour is Minaj’s first headlining tour that stopped in Cleveland. With them, they brought an audience with some wild hair and costumes, which were quite different than the audience seeing Mama Mia just next door.
Nicki Minaj’s performance included tons of dancing and theatrics as well. She had a very talented crew of dancers who performed some incredible routines to all of her songs. The opening song “Roman’s Revenge” included some incredible dragon-like choreography while Minaj first appeared on stage. That’s not to say that she didn’t have some moves of her own. Minaj also changed outfits several times to fit the mood for her songs. She wore everything from hip-hop outfits for her fast raps to ballgowns for the ballads.
The pop star showed her love to her fans in Cleveland who in some cases, knew more of the words to her raps than she did! Minaj interacted really well with her audience throughout the show and brought several up on stage with her. After they performed “Bedrock” with her, she sent them all backstage to see them after the show. Nicki’s interactions with the audience created a personal experience with the Cleveland audience. Minaj put on a great show, and all of us in Cleveland hope to have her back soon.
