[pullquote quote="A perfect 10 out of 10!" credit="Kory"]Cleveland Play House is batting 1000 since moving into the newly renovated and state-of-the-art Allen Theater in PlayhouseSquare! Their latest production, from acclaimed playwright Ken Ludwig, is called “The Game’s Afoot.” The show is based on William Gillette (Sherlock Holmes), if you didn’t guess from the title.
A combination comedy, thriller, action, murder mystery this show is entertaining from the start and never leaves you hanging! Maybe it’s excitement over state-of-the-art facilities or maybe there is something in the water at the Allen Theater, but the sets this season have been fantastic! In fact, the first applause during Afoot came when the curtain raised to reveal the replica interior of Gillette’s Connecticut castle. The staging is breathtaking and Daniel Conway (Scenic Designer) should be included in the final bows and given a raise.
The cast in this show is just as stellar as their surroundings, Donald Sage Mackay is brilliant as Gillette/Holmes, Eric Hissom is classic and hilarious as Felix Geisel, Erika Rolfsrud steals the show as Daria Chase and Rob McClure‘s comedic timing is perfect! He is hilarious in real life too, total typecasting!
The Game’s Afoot has a little something for everyone and is worth every cent of the admission price! A perfect 10 out of 10! Think you can figure out “whodunit?” The Game’s Afoot runs through Christmas Eve and tickets are going fast…DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!
